This isn’t a list of the best restaurants. It’s the rooms worth getting dressed for — the coffee you walk twenty minutes to, the pool you stay at until dark, the dinner that turns into drinks. VEÌR has always been about where a ring is worn rather than the ring itself, so this is where. Every city is arranged the same way, because most good days are. Reserve Mameya Kakeru and Gen Yamamoto well ahead. Ayano’s Bar is cash only and closed Sundays. Most galleries shut by five, and small bars still prefer cash.

The most design-literate city on earth. Concrete, sculpture, and dessert treated as art direction. Nothing starts early and nothing ends early.

Good to know

Zest needs booking through Catch Table; Bar Cham is closed Tuesdays and the wait can run to hours; Mingles closes Sunday and Monday. Cafés open mid-morning, bars run past two, and Bukchon is residential — go early and keep your voice down.

Vertical, fast, and better after dark. The city changes level as often as it changes street — half of it is above you.

Good to know

COA takes no reservations and is closed Mondays — put your name down before dinner. The Star Ferry is still the best way to cross. Central is mostly walkable by escalator.

上海 — Former French Concession

Plane trees, lane houses and Art Deco nobody had to invent twice. The old concession is where the city still sounds like itself.

Good to know

Rockbund is free and closed Mondays. Speak Low hides behind a false cabinet in a bar-supply shop — go up a floor for the quieter room. Bring a payment app; cash is rare.

Atlas and Native are closed Sundays. Burnt Ends is closed Sunday and Monday and releases tables thirty days ahead. Everything is air-conditioned and ten minutes apart.
